Most Anticipated SmartPhones of 2011

Smartphones are some of the single most popular technological devices that all tech savvy and non-savvy individuals possess – from Apple’s casual iPhone to RIM’s corporate Blackberry and even Nokia’s splendid N8. Smartphones are being released at a rather alarming rate – LG, one of the smaller smartphone creators, released 10 different smartphones in 2011 alone. Companies like HT (Hi-Tech Computing) release smartphones on a regular basis. Even smartphone Operating Systems (Mobile Device operating systems) are on the rise – the recent surge in popularity of the Android, a new version Froyo followed soon after by the Gingerbread version and Nokia and Intel’s MeeGo (which, by the way, has a smartphone featured later on).
The following smartphones are, according to us, some of the most anticipated that are slated for release in 2011.
HTC 7 Pro
As longtime owners of HTC smartphones, any HTC release would automatically stumble upon our most anticipated releases of 2011 – what with HTC releasing its first Dual Core processor smartphones in the end of 2010, we anticipate this phone to be even more powerful. Shaped with a slide out QWERTY keyboard to form a shape like a laptop, this HTC smartphone has a number of features. It runs of Windows Phone 7 and is a CDMA phone.
Nokia N9
After the marriage of Nokia’s Maemo mobile device os and Intel’s Moblin, MeeGo entered the mobile device os market as ahighly anticipated product. Nokia has announced the release of the first MeeGo smartphone which is dubbed as the Nokia N9 (its predecessor runs Symbian v3.0 which is also quite impressive this time around). This smartphone resembles the Nokia N8 but has several Macbook like designs which include an aluminium unibody. After an impressive device in terms of the N8, N9 will actually be worth a second, and third glance.
BlackBerry Storm 4
Just as the iPhone has created for itself a niche amongst smartphone users so has the BlackBerry smartphone amongst denizens of the workplace. However, BlackBerry has started changing its approach – and target market towards the more casual users such as those that tend to gravitate towards the iPhone. This was visible with the BlackBerry Torch. This smartphone has been dubbed by many as the ‘iPhone’ killer. Already has the Storm 3 version released in 2010. It will feature a 5 MP camera as well as a magnetometer, an accelerometer, upgraded GPS internals, true compass and specific focus on augmented reality applications.
Samsung Wave 2
The Samsung Wave phone has been quite a success – and the Wave 2 is thus a highly anticipated smartphone. Run by Samsung’s own mobile device os, Bada (a mobile device os apparently based on FreeBSD and its variants), this smartphone will have a number of features which include 3.2 inch screen, Wi-Fi, FM Radio, but lacking in GPS, a high resolution or a powerful processor. The reason for its high anticipation is its price – which is going to be the cheapest.
iPhone 5
And no list of anticipated smartphones would be complete without Apple’s iPhone 5. slated for a 2011 release, this smartphone is rumored to have a good number of features. The iPhone 5 will purportedly support 4G networks wherever available (including possibly Verizon’s 4G LTE Network). Additionally, this iPhone will run on the, as of date, under development iOS 5.
